Every Step. By Hand. In The Holy Land.

A look inside the process that turns a vision into a Melior Mundus piece.

Design

Every piece begins as a vision inspired by the heritage of the Holy Land before it is ever drawn onto paper. Each design then takes shape through careful sketching, guided by the materials, textures, and symbols that have marked sacred objects for generations. From the very beginning, attention is given to how the piece feels in the hand, how the metal, stone, and wood work together, and the meaning it is meant to carry.  The question is not whether it is worth creating, but how to create it in a way that preserves the meaning behind it.

Pendants

Designed for daily wear, each pendant is meant to stay close to the heart, with enough weight to be gently felt throughout the day. The geometry is refined at real body scale, not just on a screen, so each piece rests naturally against the chest. Details like the bail, clasp strength, and edge finish are considered from the beginning, ensuring the final piece feels intentional both visually and in the way it is worn.

Framed Elements

Framed pieces are designed as one complete work, with the artwork and frame created together from the very beginning rather than paired later on. Every detail, from the scale to the spacing around the piece, is considered early in the process so it feels balanced both from across the room and up close. Depth, proportion, and placement are carefully shaped to ensure the final work stays true to the story and its source.

Wooden Frames

Frames begin with hardwood chosen for its grain, strength, and character, because no two pieces of wood ever carry the same story. Each profile is milled as part of a larger collection, then hand finished one by one, allowing every frame to keep its own unique grain and identity while still belonging to something greater. Rather than relying on fast modern assembly, the corners are joined using traditional mortise construction and glue, a method chosen for the way it endures over time. Before any artwork is fitted, the wood is sealed with care, so the frame and the piece it holds can age together naturally, as one complete work.

Stones

Stones

The stones in our pieces are sourced from quarries and sites across the Holy Land. Each one is hand selected for its color, natural grain, and the subtle variations that show it was cut from the earth itself, not shaped from a mold. Stones are then shaped to the design, cleaned, and sealed without altering the natural face. The result is a piece shaped by hand while still carrying the character of the land it came from.

Elements

The metal pieces in the collection, including crosses, stars, medallions, and the elements of the Trinity Set, made in three stages using techniques preserved over generations. Each design moves from the mold to casting to coating in a fixed sequence, with quality checks between every step. The aim is consistency in form and integrity in finish across every item that carries a Melior Mundus mark.

Molds

Molds

A master is made for each design, then a working mold is taken from it. Each working mold is regularly replaced to preserve sharpness and detail, and any mold that shows flaws during the process is removed immediately.

Casting

Casting

Casts are poured one design at a time, in small batches, so temperature and timing stay consistent. Each cast is inspected before it cools fully, and only pieces that meet the standard are moved forward to the next step.

Plating

Plating

Layer by layer, the metal is electrochemically deposited until the plating achieves the precise thickness, finish, and structural integrity intended for the piece.

Assembly

Assembly is where the separate parts (frame, stone, metal, mounting, and backing) become one object. Each piece is fitted by hand, checked under light from every angle, and adjusted until it sits correctly. Details are measured beyond what the eye can catch, because true craftsmanship is proven over years, not moments. Nothing leaves the assembly bench until it has been checked against the standard.

Assembly

Preparation and Polish

Each piece is polished by hand, in stages, with a different cloth and compound for each. Stones and metal are polished separately, so neither finish contaminates the other. Pendants get extra attention here, since they will be worn against skin: bails are tested, edges softened, and any solder points smoothed. Every piece is inspected one last time under daylight before it is wrapped for the next step.

Placing and blessing

Placing and blessing

Every finished piece is brought to the Holy sites and placed at the source of its meaning. Most are taken to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, while the Gilded Star and The Gold Nativity Star pendant are placed at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Each placement is documented, from the moment the piece arrives to the moment it is set down in prayer. It then returns ready to be carried, connected forever to the holy place it was created to honor.

Certification

Every Melior Mundus piece carries proof of its origin. The certificate is the personal record: signed and numbered to that specific item, by a church member. Provenance is not asserted on paper alone; it is shown. The certificate is built to endure alongside the piece, so the same proof remains with it for generations to come.
